Integrated Learning & Development Program
A TOOL FOR INTEGRATED LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT TO INFORM, COMMUNICATE AND EDUCATE WIDELY
One of the important desired impacts of the “living lab” is to support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030, adopted by Canada. In the context of our Living Lab initiative, we support the fact that partners support the fact that education is an essential driver of progress in the 17 SDGs, and Canadian priorities, including but not limited to:
- 4.4: By 2030, significantly increase the number of young people and adults with the skills, especially technical and vocational skills, needed for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship;
- 4.7 : By 2030, ensure that all learners have the knowledge and skills to promote sustainable development, including, inter alia, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles.
That’s why TVC22 is proud to develop an integrated learning and development program, which is fundamental to the Living Lab. The curriculum document (currently only available in English) explains what participants could learn and develop. It is in line with the Ontario curriculum, but open to all, with a particular focus on the weaknesses and gaps in our current systems, such as innovation and integrative learning.
Integrative learning engages students in rich learning experiences that connect subjects and bring learning to life. It offers learners the opportunity to work to meet the expectations of two or more subjects within a single unit, lesson or activity. It can solve the problems of fragmented learning and teaching isolated skills, by enabling people to learn and apply skills in meaningful contexts, across subject boundaries. In such contexts, learners have the opportunity to develop their critical thinking, reasoning, knowledge transfer and cross-subject skills.
