Key Information

The Local Journalism Initiative is a Canadian Heritage support program for the creation of original civic journalism that addresses the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada.

Funding is available to eligible Canadian media organizations to hire or pay freelance journalists to produce civic journalism content for underserved communities.

Media organizations have access to the content produced through a Creative Commons collective license for grouping authors, ensuring that Canadians are better informed.
